๐ Sundance Report
CFF showed up at Sundance in full forceโour cofounders English and Alec attended, along with our Sr. Director of Programming, Jesse R. Tendler, and our Accessibility Coordinator, Caroline Parker Boyd.
We hosted an Environmental Filmmaker Happy Hour with Clean Creatives and Greenwashed (dir. Samuel Pigott) on Main Street, bringing together a group of filmmakers for drinks and networking, and Jesse spoke on the panel โFilm Festivals as Catalysts for Inclusivityโ at the Impact Lounge.
We also had the chance to catch up on the latest in the industry: on Friday, The Earth Lounge showcased the power of collaboration between creatives and climate leaders, with inspiring panels and networking on climate, culture, and resilience. On Saturday, our friends at the Ceres Food Film Festival spoke on food, film, and impact at Food Tank. Wrapping up the long weekend, the Sustainable Entertainment Alliance panel on Monday highlighted environmental storytelling from Sundance directors, labor movement luminaries, and Hollywood impact leaders.
Our must-watch film at the festival was Rebuilding (dir. Max Walker-Silverman, 2025), a moving story about a rancher (Josh OโConnor) who discovers the power of community after losing everything to a wildfire. This reimagined Western captivates with its stunning landscapes, heartfelt exploration of found family, and a message of hope amid crisis and uncertainty. Far from a typical disaster movie, Rebuilding focuses on resilience and the strength of human connections in the wake of profound loss. With the recent fires in Los Angeles serving as a stark reminder of the film's themes, Rebuilding feels both timely and deeply resonant.
